Thomas Thabane: Lesotho's PM sends army into streets

Lesotho's best minister, who's accused of murdering his estranged wife, features deployed the military on the roads to "restore order". Inside a TV deal with, Thomas Thabane accused unnamed police elements of seeking to undermine democracy.
The decision arrives a day following the constitutional judge ruled against his choice to suspend parliament. The prime minister has so far resisted pressure to resign on the killing of his then-wife Lipolelo Thabane in 2017. The situation possesses surprised countless in the tiny landlocked kingdom, that is surrounded by South Africa entirely.  The prime minister was involved in bitter divorce proceedings with his estranged wife Lipolelo when she was shot dead three years ago.  8 weeks soon after, Mr Thabane committed his current partner Maesaiah, with whom he was basically residing at the right moment of the murder. Maesaiah Thabane was charged regarding the the killing in February and contains since been released on bail.   Mr Thabane's own lawyers have argued that as prime minister he ought to be immune from prosecution and can't be charged with murder. The entire situation has become referred to the Great Courtroom, which will be sitting as the Constitutional Judge when it chooses whether the situation against Mr Thabane can continue. The 80-year-old prime minister has previously said he will step down in July, resisting pressure from his own party to leave office immediately.
